On Friday 23 May, Brent Council carried out a borough-wide enforcement operation targeting landlords who are renting out properties without a valid licence.
Multi-agency teams, including officers from private housing, environmental health, and anti-social behaviour services, went door-to-door in targeted areas. They inspected properties for health and safety hazards, addressed residents’ concerns, and took enforcement action against unlicensed landlords.
❝ Every landlord in Brent is legally required to have a licence to rent out their property… If you’re breaking the law, we will find you and you will face prosecution and hefty fines. ❞
— Councillor Fleur Donnelly-Jackson, Brent Cabinet Member for Housing
