Court and tribunal fees to rise

On April 1, 2024, the Ministry of Justice confirmed the increase in court and tribunal fees following a consultation process. The consultation paper, titled ‘Implementing increases to selected court and tribunal fees,’ was published on November 10, 2023. It sought feedback on proposals to raise a selection of fees by 10 per cent to partially reflect changes in the consumer price index (CPI) since 2021, the last time fees were increased.

The consultation aimed to gather opinions on increasing fees to align with changes in the general level of prices, the specific fees to be increased, and the potential impact on individuals with protected characteristics.

For a detailed list of the fees set to increase, you can access Annex B of the response document here.

Additionally, Anthony Collins has provided a summary of the fee changes most relevant to housing professionals, which you can find here.
