MHCLG has published the findings of its first annual survey on planning capacity and skills in local authorities across England. Commissioned under the previous government, the 2023 survey highlights the crucial role of town planners and related professionals in delivering for their communities. The insights gained will help them direct support where it is most needed and assess the impact of our investments in planning and planners.

They will soon conduct a follow-up pulse survey.

This edition also includes details on ongoing consultations regarding the compulsory purchase process and compensation, as well as information about the upcoming 2025 Housing Design Awards.
