Sarah Elliot, currently CEO of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), will take the reins as Chief Executive of Shelter this September, following Polly Neate’s impactful seven-year tenure.
Elliot brings over 20 years of experience tackling social injustice and will focus on driving the next phase of Shelter’s ambitious 10-year strategy — campaigning for a new generation of social homes and pushing for system-wide change to end the housing emergency.
“Home is a fundamental human right… the housing emergency is the most urgent societal challenge we face today,” said Sarah Elliot.
With a clear focus on advocacy, political engagement, and community support, Elliot is determined to build on Shelter’s incredible track record.
Outgoing CEO Polly Neate described the transition as “an exciting new era,” sharing her support on social media:
Tim Gutteridge will continue as interim CEO until the official handover in September.
